Chopard Watches

In 1860, Louis-Ulyssse Chopard set up his factory in Sonvilier, in the Swiss Jura Mountains. The firm soon acquired an excellent reputation, particularly in the production of high precision pocket chronometers. In this capacity, Chopard was to become one of the main suppliers of the Swiss railways, already legendary for their punctuality. When the demand for Chopard clocks and pocket watches steadied, the company decided to launch into jewelry watches and to move to the prestigious watchmaking capital of Geneva. In 1963, Chopard came into the hands of Karl Scheufele, representing the third generation of the family firm. However, Paul-Andre Chopard remained part of the team until his death five years later.
The foundations on which the Scheufele family continues to build Chopard`s reputation and promising future include a deep-felt respect for the 150 year old, Swiss watchmaking tradition and determination to stay on the cutting edge of technology"
